Changing File Ownership by
sarima
Many of my user files on on a partition other than my boot partition. IIRC,
if I do a clean install these files will no longer be owned by any user
account, even if I create an account with the same name.
So, my question is, how much trouble is it to change the ownership of all of
these files (thousands) to an account under Vista? Can any administrator
account do it, or only *the*...

tommyh1958
Folks,
Last weekend I was setting up our new computer (Intel E8600, Asus P5k,
4GB RAM etc) with Vista Home Premium (64-bit) SP1. I set up user
accounts for the family, installed a few programmes & updates,
transferred some files etc etc. I had some difficulty networking with my
Windows XP computer which got me exploring the new Vista set-up.
What I appear to have done is, instead of setting up...

re-create user folder structure by
cuestakid
hello everyone-
So I am taking a class on vista as part of my major requirements (im a
network admin major). As such, I have been doing a LOT of tinkering and
messing around with Vista, looking at things and playing with different
settings. Anyways, to make a complicated story short, I need to
re-create the admin, default and so on profiles as I somehow deleted the
default profile and had to...

use AD to apply the recommended settings, I'll be using a workgroup setup to

I'll be creating a ton of settings using the Local GPO (MLGPO), but having
problems finding a method that will permit me to backup and restore or
Import/Export any of the Local Group Policies. I...

Dear Microsoft - UAC (.png & wmp) issues should be addressed. by
JSandPC
I have been reading posts here for months and have noticed an increasing
number of Vista users that are having problems with .png files and Windows
Media Player.
This is a suggestion to Microsoft to review the UAC for some issues it has
been causing.
A few months ago, my New HP/Compaq with Vista Home Premium lost it's ability
to view .png files in IE. Running IE as Admin or turning off UAC...

Inheriting a password locked computer -- what to do? by
LSordo
A cousin passed away in July. I have inherited her Acer laptop. My problem
is that it is password-protected upon sign in.
I've seen people talking about signing in as an admin and the like, but I
can't get past the opening password screen.
Is there anything I can do to access this computer?
Thanks if you can help.
