Rob
I can no longer access my Admin account in Vista!
Here's the message (free translation): ''Failure in opening session by user

This is if I try to enter my administrator profile. In my user ''user''
profile though, I can access, but can no longer go on internet : I am
prompted (offered...) to work offline. But this is secondary : if I can...

Access denied on external hard drive by
Keith
Hello. I recently purchased an HP Media Center PC that is running Windows
Vista Home Premium. This is a family-shared PC and has six user accounts: two
administrator accounts (one for me, one for my wife), and four standard
accounts for the kids.
Our previous PC died due to motherboard failure, so I took its hard drive
and converted it to an external USB drive. This drive was configured...

Ideas wanted on account restriction by
Brad
We are looking for a method to prevent a certain user account from
logging in interactively, while still being able to use elevated
rights (on same account). Since entering elevated rights is an
interactive login, this doesn't work.
Any other ideas? I've thought of login script to log them out, but
this is easy to bypass, and I also would not like them to process user
GPOs. Looking for a clever...

Setting User Picture by
Bob
I am trying to use a picture from my pictures to show as the user picture in
the user account, but the image selected does not show completely in the user
picture container, it is cropped by the system. This only happens on some
jpg files and not on others. Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

Copy user profile by
rileymartin
Hi,
I recently added my vista PC to a 2003 domain. I tried copying my
c:\users\username folder to my domain account, c:\username.domain however I
didn't get my wallpaper, gadgets and a few other things. I also got a few
errors about filenames being too long during the copy. I saw other people
posting saying this would work. Should it?
I then tried the vista 'Windows Easy...

Make folder on 2nd drive private by
meterman
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate and have two SATA hard drives. I've
changed the "Documents" folder from C:\Users\Jim\Documents to D:\Documents.
Any users on the PC can access this folder. When I made this change on my
older XP PRO PC this folder could not be accessed by anyone but me.
I tried to make changes to the security tab of the properties of
D:\Documents, but I am not clear on how...

changed. My pictures, documents, and computer games were all deleted from my
account! Then there was a little pop-up near the clock on the lower right
hand corner that told me not to log out or else all the new account info
would be saved. It also said to contact an administrator. Please email me

Product key already in use by

Hello,
Some time ago, I bought a new computer, and Windows Vista with it. Some days
ago windows updated itself, and then I couldn't log-in anymore, I tried
repairing it with the Vista's DVD and system restore points, but that did not
help cause it just reinstalled and applied the same updates again, and
prevented me to login. Tried other functions on the DVD too, didn't help. So
it...
