Regular Run As... option (not Run As Administrator) by
slimbim
I have Vista Business. When I shift+Righ Click an item, I can see the Run
As... option, but when I click on it, UAC asks for my consent, but I do not
get the prompt to enter the user credentials to actually Run the program as.
("Run As..." is different from "Run As Administrator"). I need to run some
things not just as a local machine administrator rights, but as a totally
different user...

Vista Administrator has "access denied" to 2nd hard drive? by
markymark7717@gmail.com
Well trying to secure some files on a 2nd drive (D drive). I had set
it up to block access to everyone but me (the administrator). Now even
while logged on as the administrator I can't access the files on the
drive. I get a message " D:\ is not accessible", "Access is
denied"?????? What is up with that? So I tried to do a system restore
but without getting into pointless details on that, it...

Domain Password Expiration Notice by
Paul S
Does Vista offer the the same ability as XP when a user's domain password is
about to expire? All I have noticed is the balloon popup but no pop up
window stating the password will expire in x days and asking the user if they
want to change it. I let my password expire and after my machine locked due
to inactivity I could no longer log back on without changing my password on
the DC first. ...

Installation problem for non-admin users by

Hello,
I guess I am facing an administrative privileges issue with Vista. I have a
custom application which is sent out to the users as an .msi file. I am not
able to install this .msi file on Vista for non – admin users.
I get the following error
Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this
directory: Folder Path. The installation cannot continue.

Use built-in administrator account or create new one? by
Luc
If I understand it correctly, for security reasons it's best to have a
separate administrator account and a standard user account, even on one-user
PCs (as in my case). However, which of the following two is the better option:
1. Enable the built-in administrator account and "downgrade" the account
that was created when Vista was installed to that of a standard user;
2. Continue using the...

Folks,
I am trying to access my external hard drive, but keep getting "F:/ not
accessible, access is denied". I can change the name of the "F-drive",
but not access. This is happening even thu I am in Administration
account.
I have recently accessed the same external hard drive to change
security settings to all the files so that all users have full control.
Was this a mistake to do?
there are...

Trivial startup script won't run in Vista by
Jeff Vandervoort
I have a very simple Startup script run by a GPO that I've used in Win XP
for a long time without any problems. It needed a slight modification for
Vista.
The Vista portion of the script runs OK interactively with a standard user
account or an admin account, but does NOT run as a Startup script. I've also
tried it as a Logon script, where it also fails. Here is the...

to be able to use Parental Controls, but I want to allow MySpace. The
problem is that no matter what categories I choose to block or allow, MySpace
is blocked. I can add the domain of myspace.com but with the way MySpace
works, there are so many subdomians for images and friends that 1/2 of the
site is still...
