I connect to the network drive securely without having to enter a password. I have about 6 computers in the home network. They all connect this way. I can access ALL shares on the Buffalo using 2 Vista Ultimate. BUT, when i tried to bakup to Buffalo...

Managing Backup Catalogs by Craig
I am backing up Vista Ultimate user files to a removable disk. The disk is now full. I think that I want to manage the backup catalogs to remove the older backups that are less important to me and free up space. How do I do this, or am I trying to do the wrong thing? Thanks.

How to hide the start menu lock button? by Karl
Who knows? And the "save session" button as well. I know in XP and Window 2000 we can edit the registry key in POLICIES\Explorer, but it seems not working for Vista. Thanks!

Group policy screen saver does not execute on new Vista machines by jdr
We use group policies to enable activation of screen saver with password protection on our desktops and laptops. This policy works well on existing XP machines and on XP machines upgraded to Vista Business. We recently acquired a new PC with Vista Business and found it will not launch the screen saver when time has expired. Path for screen saver is %systemroot%\system32\logon.scr. Path...

Hidden / System accounts by Andre
Hello guys, I need a help, please. I would like to know how do I create a new "system" (or hidden) account on Windows Vista Ultimate? For example, I noticed that VMWare and the IIS server create new accounts (__vmware_user__ and IUSR_ ) but those accounts don't appear in my user control panel and, most importantly, they don't appear in the welcome / login screen and neither on the C:\Users...

Lost Password/Locked out of computer by dks-n-tn
We are trying to help a friend fix his computer. I use XP, but his computer is Vista Home Premium, so i don't know anything about Vista. The problem is when he signs on, he is prompted to enter a password. He does not have a password assigned. He also has no access to any other account choices...only his. I used Trinity Rescue Kit, and it says no Windows installed. I tried Ophcrack, and the...

virus scanner / user accounts by UH
Hi, I'd like to give my son his own user account in Vista Home Premium. The account setup went well, BUT from within his new (normal user, not Administrator) account, he can disable the virus scanner (Nod32). Is there any way to specify as an Admin, that a specific program cannot be exited by other users? Thanks, Ulrich
