Can't delete a file - Access is denied to Administrator by
jeff
I have an mpeg file on my local hard drive that I cannot delete. My account
is an administrator account, running under vista ultimate. When I look at the
file properties I see that the ownership is unassigned (unable to display
current owner), but when I attempt to take ownership, windows security
reports "Unable to set new owner on . Access is denied."
Can anyone recommend steps to delete...

File Has Properties That Cannot Be Copies by
C and A Bredt
I wanted to copy my Favorites to a flash drive to put on another computer.
Some of the files showed a message saying:
Property Loss
The File has properties that cannot be copied to the new location. Are you
sure you want to copy the file without its properties?
It gave me the choices = Yes, Skip, Cancel.
Any idea what's happening? Thanks, CB

Search for files with parenthesis in name by
Erik Wikström
How do I search for files who's name contains a parenthesis? Entering
(2) gives me all files containing 2 (which are a couple of houndred,
while there should only be two or three with (2) in the name) since the
parentheses have a special meaning when searching. Ive tried to use \ to
escape them but no luck.

How do I restore my "Pictures" folder? by
HXCLOS
I accidentally deleted my "Pictures" folder from my Personal folder. I tried
to create a new folder and rename it to "Pictures" and even made a shortcut
for it on my "Links" folder but when I go to my start menu, the "Pictures"
link does not work.
I've tried using TweakVI and TuneUp Utilities but non of them helped to
restore it.
I also tried copying the "Pictures" folder from the Guest...

Problems with Vista backup program by
No Name
I've not been able to complete any file backups successfully
for about two months. Some of the error messages
suggest that I need to tell my antivirus program to stop
interfering with accesses to wherever the list of previous
backups is stored - but so far I've had no success finding
out just where that is.
I have found that a program C:\Windows\System32\sdclt.exe
seems to be responsible for...

Can I disable "Grouping" in Vista's Windows explorer?? by
Bryan
I would like to completely disable the "Group By" and file grouping in
Windows Explorer in Vista. I detest this ill-conceived "feature" .
I' ve seen articles on how to "reset" the views so they stick and they're
only temporary solutions as Vista eventually start grouping again.. I'm **S

that were not moved to the new version of Windows and were not identified as
Windows system files...", it shows 4.54GB. The only upgrade I've done is

Total File Size in Status Bar of Explorer by
ankohler
Is there any way to show the total file size of all files in a specific folder?
I am not talking about right click - Properties. In XP the status bar always
showed the size of the all files in that folders when NO file was selected...
I really miss that behaviour...

UAC should have been a Business class feature, not for Home Users by
JD Wohlever
I hate to say so MS, but your average joe, the person you are making UAC
for, is going
to do exactly what they are doing, that is turning UAC off.
Example, my mother is your basic Internet User. She just graduated from AOL
to
a normal broadband connection after me telling her for years how much better
broadband would be for her. She bought a PC that had Vista Home Premium on
it.
Suddenly...
