suddenly missing files by
charliDMB
Over the past 3 days, I have worked on some images (I'm a graphics designer),
downloaded some pictures, cropped some, etc, and saved them all to my
harddrive. I accessed some of them, after I worked with them, because I
uploaded them to a program I use and they're inside the program. But all of
these recent files are suddenly gone from my computer. It's almost as if my
computer rolled...

Common Places Like XP by
Bill Meyer
In Xp there was a way to add 5 locations that were called common places.
These were places that you went to all of the time and they would appear in
all drop down menus when trying to open a file from any program. Is this
possible with Vista?

I use Windows Vista Premium.
And I have a bunch of files in various locations which I am unable to find.
Is there any way I can view every single file all at once on my computer?
Thanks.

Where's my music? by
beegeemoo
One day, suddenly, my Windows Media Player told me that i had not added any
tracks to my library. This caused me to almost die, since i had many tracks
and was afraid that perhaps all of my music files had disappeared from my
computer. But i looked in "My Music" folder and they were still there. I
went to the add music option in the media player and it still would not add
my tracks to the...

Can't open file except with associated program. What do I do? by
Laura
I used to be able to open a file from Documents or Recent Documents and other
places and just double click on the file and it opened. Now though, I have to
be in the program that the file is associated with to be able to open it. I
hate this. But I don't know what changed or how to fix it.
So basically if it is an Excel file I have to open Excel first and then open
the program from...

Start menu problems- (moved this query from General forum by
Robert J. Lafayette
Admittedly I may have done something to cause this but I can not get it
right:
Vista Home premium, 32 bit. New User, new PC.
Had all data and music files on external HDD's.
Moved data (documents, pictures) over last week, and moved Music files over
to C drive today.

Recover data from a USB drive by
Thompson Tuckworth
Hi,
I have a problem trying to restore data from a 750 GB WD drive installed in
a USB/SATA enclosure.
The drive worked fine in my previous notebook (which died) running Vista
Business, but didn't appear in another XP machine. I don't know why.
However, when I connected it to my new notebook running Vista Home Plus,
under Disk Management it appeared as Invalid (not foreign or any other

Hello everyone,
So I had to reformat and reinstall windows vista business x86 because

Some Shortcuts Don't Work by
Arcking
I'm having trouble with shortcuts not working (not doing anything) in
Vista. About as much as I can explain is that shortcuts with greyed out
fields don't work, but shortcuts with all the fields editable work fine.
Examples below.
Works:
