group AND sort files? by
vind
i'm managing a music directory with an artist of 2 different names, and
i've decided to group the files by artists
however, within the artist groups, the files seem to be sorted randomly
is there any way i can sort these files by name, while keeping them
grouped under artists?

Problems with Disk Management tool by
Galapas
I recently purchased a new computer (AMD quad core 64 bit) with Vista
Home Premium installed. The included hard drive was a 650 gig unit.
After about 2 months of use I discovered the Disk Management tool, I
proceeded to break the drive up into smaller partitions. The reported
free space on the drive was over 500 gig. It would only allow me to
shrink about 30 gig of that to a partition. I assumed...

Local System Network Restricted by
Don[_12_]
I am running Vista Home Premium, 64 bit version. My computer has been very
slow for about 5-6 minutes after startup with constant disk access. I have
used the Reliability and Performance option under Administrative tools and
find that after about 2-3 minutes after startup, the only thing appearing is
numerous SVC|HOST calls with the (Local System Network Restricted) very
active. I am at a...

shortcut at C:/ProgramData/Application Data by
gordon55y[_2_]
Hi,
I notice that vista has made some shortcut folders as placeholders
for
previous XP folders. For instance:
C:/Application Data
If I look at the properties for that shortcut, it is type folder with
no target.
That all makes sense.
But I see another shortcut at:

Video thumbnail preview picture not showing by
Nicholas
Hello
This just stoped working for me, I have tried to delete the thumbnail cache,
but only to find out that my old vidoes didn't get a new preview picture
either.
I have tried to disable just about everything under system performance and
re-enableing it, but no luck.
Is there a fix for this problem ?

Windows Search 4 - Wildcard in file content by
Ken-T
Hi,
firstly, apologies if this post lands in the wrong groups.
Have Windows Search 4 in use under XP pro. Works rather nicely - but -
although I can use wildcards such as "*" for file names - use of wildcards
for words contained in file content does not work for the word begining.
So, in a content search, bana* will find banana
