Can't search for "exact phrase" with Desktop Search 4.0 by Brad[_11_]
I've found that I can't search for a string inside a file using quotes and get an accurate result. The search will find all words, even though MS documentation indicates that searching in quotes will give exact phrase. anyone find this and fix it?

I'm a XP Pro user that just converted to Vista. I'm having trouble finding all files on C:\ that were modified between certain dates. XP had a very easy search function but Vista is a bit more obtuse. Can someone please tell me how to find files created or modified between specific dates or before or after specific dates? I'm at my wits end -

How do I save one file as more than one file? by elcastellano
I'm trying to do just what I said in the title. But for some reason, my computer won't let me. I have a base empty file that I created to replace files I no longer need. Actually, I do that with all file types. I don't want a bunch of files that take up a whole bunch of space on my disk. And I also don't want a bunch of files taking up room after I delete them. Basically I want save one...

File not recognized by eric blom
I have an Excel file on my desktop. Whenever I double-click on it, I get the error message "Windows cannot find 'C:\users\owners\Desktop\eric.sources.xlsx' It doesn't matter if I save it under another name, or even pasting into a new file. I am able to open it by opening Excel first and then using the "open" function.

Destination Folder Access Denied by mattaustin
Trying to delete a folder that I downloaded from a file-sharing network, and keep getting this message: Destination Folder Access Denied. Reading the posts on the subjects gets me way over my head. I checked the properties and am just not understanding how to change ownership and/or permissions. Any help for a novice? I just upgraded to Vista Home Premium. The folder is a J. Garcia/D. Grisman...

Windows 7 / Vista file lock? by JohS
Hi. I have been XP user of my PC (only me using this PC) with admin. privileges. I have always used two similar installations (one on C:\ and no. two on E:\ (then with the biggest partition in the middle as D:\ for my 'Desktop', 'Favourites', 'Document' and backup)). This has been a very good way for me to always have a total failure free installation to work on (I can delete the...

Problems with the Vista Backup and Restore Center program by Robert Miles[_2_]
I've noticed a few problems with the Backup and Restore Center program that comes as part of Windows Vista. 1. It's found BOTH under Accessories - System Tools and under Maintenance in the main menu. Only one of these is capable of handling backups large enough to require formatting at least three DVD+RWs. If the list of previous backups is currently empty (for example, because the main...
