has any1 had problems playing gta on vista RTM? for me it just flashes up all differnet numbers etc almost like vista cant read the exe properly

Hello. My wife found a game at a garage sale. The game is called typing instructor for kids. This game says it requires direct x 8 for typing games. I can't open the game console with "~" for any game. When I was using XP that was not a problem. But what happens now? And I don't wanna hear stuff like "we don't support cheats" bla bla bla... windows vista interferes with the programming of a game. I'm really annoyed about this. I tried any other key but nothing. The only difference is that I cannot use any key - except if i hold control; in which case I can use WASD for movement and SHIFT for sprint - however no jumping or changing of stance, and it causes the keys to ghost. i resently found a old copy of the sims and i wanted to show my GF how much better it is for the pc than the ps2. When i instal the sims it works fine and no problems, i run the game when i'm done, that when i go play it the second time it starts to load then crashes and goes back to the desktop. Everytime I finish the Quarantine Zone level, and the cut scene plays where the brutes shoot you off the edge, it comes up with a message "Please insert your original Halo 2 disk".
