How do you get Halo to work on Vista RC1?

After installing Vista I tried to install Railroads. The install screen pops up, but when I click "install", the pop up screen closes and nothing happens. Anyone having the same problem? Martin

the new update steam pushed out worked ok on xp, but only gets to 26 percent on my rtm vista and dies. any body else seen this? i also tried the full download and install, but still gets to 26% and dies. next i'm going to uninstall,reboot,reinstall to see if that is anybetter. my MCE was also broke running new rtm nvidia drivers, and new 2_12 audigy 4 drivers. followed somebodies advice and...

I just installed GTR 2 for (dvd) and it won't start in regular mode, admin mode, xp sp2 mode. See attached. http://img15.imgspot.com/?u=/u/06/363/22/screenshot1167534012.gif I even did a complete o/s reload of Vista Ultimate fresh instead of upgrade from MCE 2005 and the problem still persists. I tried in XP SP2 compatibility mode, still gives the same error.

As soon as I am in BF2 I can no longer use my press to talk key. By default I have it set to mouse wheel down but I ahve tried other keys. And as soon as I alt-tab out of BF2 I can use Vent again.

I tried to patch the demo and the patch says cant find etc. I was wondering if this was an issue with how the 64 bit ver of vista has the program files (x86) folder as well as the program files folder. I dont understand how that works either but... Thanks

Hi, I read on the official vista page that Vista will come with DX10 and DX9.0L for backward compatibility, but DX10 will not be backward compatible. Supposing I may use a DX10 compatible graphic card (Nvidia G80 for example) with DirectX10 drivers on Vista and want to play an "old" game using DX9, can I play this game without booting on an other partition, without installing older GPU...

I have succesfully installed the game onto Vista and its plays fine but half way through the first mnission the game crashes and I have to end the program through Task Manager. Anyone else had this trouble? Thanks Alan P.S. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year

Hi Group, I went to Start Games and clicked on a game and got this error. This file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action, Create an association in the set associations control Panel. So, How can I do this? Seems like vista is closing down. Very curious. I resolved my issues of the vista beta I had with eq2, by wiping my drive and reloading xp. Not a single issue or lag. Am really curious if anyone has tried the RC1 version of Vista with the game.

Quick synopsis: Sound Issue in Battlefield 2142 with both 1.06 & 1.10 patches. Using RC1 on a separate hard drive (dual boot to XP or Vista.) Displays fine and worked great for a while with USB (Plantronics Gamecom Pro 1) headset with or without Ventrilo running but at some point (not sure exactly when, had an attitude and went back to XP so I could play) sound stopped working in game...

I recently bought a copy of rainbow six vegas and tried playing it on my pc. It installed and then automatically installed the two updates and seems to run perfectly apart from artefacts of some sort flashing on the screen during gameplay. These artifacts seem like wireframe glitches which flash on and off the screen fast and repetitivly. I was wondering wether anyone else had these issues...

I've been working with a set of games to find a way to make them compatable with vista. The way the games are set up you double click on the desktop icon which is a lnk file. This opens a file inside the main directory called olclauncher. Once open there's a set of 5 seperate icons on the launcher. Each one is blacked out unless there's a registry key entry in the hkey_localmachine-software...

With the new December ATI Drivers I have 383 MB of Shared System Memory for my Mobility Radeon X300. This seems too high, as it was advertized to only use 64 MB. Anyone have a comment on why this would be happening? My RAM is dual channel 400 MHZ, so there is no way that that much ram could acutally be used, or is there? Has anyone expereinced this in XP? Has anyone been able to get the ATI overclocking to function in Vista? I have a mobility radeon x300 with 64 megs of ram. Oh, and aero works despite what the system requirements say. It is faster than basic when running two monitors at 1920x1200 and 1600x1200. So much for system requirements. Ben
