Default Printer/photo and scanner compatibility

My printer and scanner are HP....they are not compatible with Vista...does
this mean I have to buy XP or new hardware? Can I get XP in trade for Vista?

Don't know what to do....HELP??

It depends... what do you mean by not compatible?
What are your model numbers?

I have an HP 6110 AIO, and HP didn't update the HP Director software for it,
but the printer still works just fine with the Vista drivers.
Since Vista Home Premium doesn't come with the Fax & Scan program, I
purchased VueScan, which does a great job of scanning.
For the very few faxes I may need to send, I can print and fax manually.
