PC shuts off at random
My computer just powers off wothout warning sometimes then won't turn on
again for several minutes. The computer hasn't been overheating or even under heavy load when it happens. Which piece of hardware is the cause of my trouble so that I can replace it? The motherboard is an ABIT IS7, the PSU is a Coolmax 450W, and the CPU is a 2.8GHz P4 Northwood. Or is the problem with something else? Any suggestions on how to narrow it down would be appreciated. |

My CPU typically runs at 42C (108 F) and my system at 39C (103 F).

Do you have any way to check on memory and the gpu?

Actually, no I don't. Is there a way to check those things?

Yes, but you may not have software to do it. I will leave that question to
someone who is more expert at taking these temps since it may involve placing sensors in critical areas. I just thought maybe you were already set up to take those readings. Obviously... make sure the fans are running. And the vents are clear.
