Default Please Help! Problem with printing Vista & XP Network.

Hi all,
I just installed a Vista computer on my XP network and I cannot connect to
any XP printers from the Vista machine. I have tried everything I know and
even had a network guy come look at it. Any ideas???? Sometimes Vista just
says Cannot connect to printer and at other times I get not enough memory
(gosh how much memory does Vista need to install a printer driver...I have 2
gigs...????)

The XP machines will print fine to the printer attatched to the Vista
computer....
Thanks alot!

Hi John,

Have you set the XP printer up for 'sharing' by right clicking on the
printer icon and selecting sharing and noting the Share name?
Then go to ControlPanel/Printers on Vista and select Add Printer/and use the
network printer option. You will need during this process to load the
printer driver (or built in Vista printer driver) in order for it to work.

Check that the firewall on both machines will allow access to the printer
and remember that the XP machine has to be running (no need to log on) in
order for it to work. Send a test print to the printer to confirm correct
operation.

best of luck,

Rod
