UI bugs in Windows Fax and Scan (Vista ultimate)
Bugs:
1. "Rename" has no shortcut key (s/b F2). 2. When choosing rename from the context menu, the dialog box OK control is focused, rather than the "New Title" text box. OK should be disabled until text is entered anyway. Annoyances: 1. Renaming should be in-place, without requiring a dialog box. 2. Multiple-page scans should be splittable. 3. Folders from other OS locations should be usable (via alias, perhaps) rather than forcing everything into Documents/Scanned Documents. I'd also love access to the Public/.../Scanned Documents folder. 4. "Show in Explorer" would be nifty, too. Most of these problems would be overcome by making the Fax & Scan grid an Explorer control rather than a custom-coded grid. Seems like you didn't spend a whole lot of time on this app -- one of the only reasons I upgraded to Ultimate. I should be able to rename files like this: F2, name, enter. As you've coded it, I need to do: Context Menu hotkey, R, Tab, Tab, name, enter. Very clunky. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
