CD/DVD ROM error
i cant get my new computer to read my cdrom drive.. it works fine on windows xp the machine i got it from. but when i put it in this one it stopped working.. btw ive tried everything from windows help.. and it didnt work.. there was no upper and lower filters to delete from the registry. any help would be appreciated thanks -- SageHunter |

CD/DVD ROM error
The cable may be the issue if it is an IDE ribbon cable. Vista requires a
40-pin 80-wire cable. Earlier computers were OK with 40-pin 40-wire cables, but there is too much cross-talk on the old cables when used in the newer (i.e. faster) computers. The 40 additional wires ground out this cross-talk. Try a newer cable if you are using the cable that came with the older cd drive.
