System Restore
Seems like as good as place as any for this. Now I like system restore! in the XP days it saved my bacon many times In Vista SR runs off the scheduler with an MS provided template that I have not adjusted in any way. I am noticing that I am not getting any restore points set except the manual ones or at install uninstall of programs. Checking the scheduler I see SR's are being run and reported successful for user WORGROUP/DVXXXXX$ I am logged in as Administrator and the SR is being run under System group. So I set the Restore Point time forward for an hour and waited.... after the time I checked NO notification but the schedule reported the task completed correctly! I have not mucked around with SR or the shadow volume both are operating to spec I believe... so why are not the events being recorded. If you like Sherlock Holmes mysteries this is one for you! -- djmorgan |
