Please tell us the make and model of the computer, whether it is a laptop or
desktop, what edition of Vista, x86 or x64, whether the dvd drive is IDE or
SATA (if in a desktop), and what you have already tried (such as in another
computer).

Have you tried cleaning the drive with a DVD cleaning disc? If so the drive
may be faulty and in need of replacement.

This may help:

Many of the tips at this website pertain to Interactual but they relate to
most DVD drives and DVD software.
