Default corrupt disk message

OK, everytime the computer restarts, it says there is a problem with one
of my disks and does a disk check. I tried to restore to a earlier
point when the problem wasn't going on, but it says there is a disk
error and won't restore.

I did the F8 key and the repair computer to no avail.
I used the cprompt to chkdsk and it says there are no errors.

Regardless, everytime the computer is restarted, it says there is a
disk problem. If there is no problem, then how do I get this thing to
quit saying there is one? I don't have the disk the computer came with
on me(I am a traveling nurse and didn't bring any software or backup
disks with me). Is this just a glitch on Vista? Is there a patch out
there to fix this error message?

Yes, there have been instances where the computer wouldn't shut off
using the shut down key and had to be manually shut down by pressing the
power button, and yes there have been instances of power outages where
the computer shut down that way. But the cprompt DOS mode says there is
no disk corruption. It mentions "44 reparse records processed" and that
is all. (whatever that means).

The next step is to test your hard drive with a diagnostic utility
downloaded from the hard drive mftr. If the drive fails any physical tests,
it needs to be replaced. If the drive tests good, then you have corrupted
your operating system by manually shutting down the computer too many times
instead of troubleshooting and fixing the shutdown issue.

It is unfortunate that you didn't bring your restore disk or any backup
media but I really don't see how else you can deal with this. Depending
upon where you are traveling, you may be able to take the machine to a
competent local computer professional. I don't suggest using a
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place. They will be able to back up your
data, test your hard drive, etc. Otherwise, wait until you are back home.

Are you allowing it to finish the disk check or do you abort it by pressing
a key? It could be that a disk check was scheduled at some stage due to one
of the aforementioned improper shutdowns and it's not clearing the schedule
until it can successfully complete a disk check. If you've been aborting
the check because it takes a long time (sometimes it can), try leaving it
running overnight.

On the other hand, if you are allowing it to finish and it still does it
every time you boot up, please disregard the above. Malke's advice is your
next step.
