Click start, type "control system" and hit enter. Under the system type
line, does it say 32 or 64-bit operating system? If 32 bit, then the most physical memory it will see under SP1 is 4GB. You would need to install the 64-bit version of Vista to utilize more. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Tank" wrote in message ... Check the BIOS first to check. How much memory does it show you. Installed on the system. -- tanuj_chadha Tanuj History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce. - Karl Marx :geek: |

Hi, again, Tank.
Replying to myself to clarify... The 32-bit version of Vista is just silent on this topic and doesn't even show this line, as I recall. My recollection was wrong. I rebooted into Vista Ultimate x86, pressed Start+Break, and the System type line does say "32-bit operating system". RC -- R. C. White, CPA San Marcos, TX Microsoft Windows MVP (Running Windows Live Mail 2008 in Vista Ultimate x64 SP1) "R. C. White" wrote in message ... Hi, Tank. As Rick said, look in System Properties. If it doesn't say "64-bit operating system" under "System type", then it is a 32-bit version of Vista, even if it is installed on 64-bit hardware. The 32-bit version of Vista is just silent on this topic and doesn't even show this line, as I recall. An even quicker way to get to System Properties is to simply hold the Start button (like a shift key) while you press Pause/Break, usually in the upper right of most keyboards. Your post includes the line: System Type x64-based PC But it's not clear to me whether this is describing hardware or the operating system. I suspect the former. RC "Tank" wrote in message ...
