Default Windows Vista Search

The search function in Vista really does suck!!!!
I've now been using Agent Ransack for searching but even that
doesn't appear to do what I want.

So, what do I want.....? Glad I asked!

I have backup cd's with many folders within them
I need to find a particular picture contained on one of those cd's
hidden within one of those many folders.

Vista's search doesn't appear to have facility to search a particular drive
and also doesn't have thumbnail view.

I can specify the drive in Agent Ransack but that doesn't appear to have
a thumbnail view.

Anyone know of a good search engine to do what I want
or do I have to change if I can windows explorer al-together.

Such a little thing and so complicated,
Thanks Microsuck.

It does indeed do both. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the root of the drive
and then search. If thumbnails are not shown, check the settings in the View tab of
Folder Options.

The preview and details panes show images also. Click the Organize button and choose
Layout to see the options.

Of course, be sure to use the new syntax when searching (details in Vista help). For
example, to see only JPG files, type:

ext:jpg
