Do you perchance have Vista 64 bit OS installed? If so, that is your issue.
This device (according to their system requirements) only works with Vista
32 bit OS.

See: http://www.alk.com/copilot/ and click System Requirements on right side
of screen.

What are the hardwareIDs of your USB serial controller?

start -- run -- Devmgmt.msc -- device properties -- details tab --
hardwareIDs

You have inserted their CD and run the installation prior to plugging in the
device, correct? If you are attempting to install by plugging in the device
and not have installed the software that came with the device that would be
your problem.

You need to contact their technical support people for further assistance
since you do have a 32 bit operating system. If a device driver is
necessary it would have to come from their company as well as further
support on the issue.
