Explorer and other Apps hang randomly
Hey everyone, Im new here but I was hoping I would be able to get a little help and/or see if anyone has experienced this before. With my computer when I go to access anything through explorer or directly from another application, it will hang for a moment before actually doing what I told it to (browse folder, open music through itunes....). This is a new problem to me since I switched over to 64bit, but I also began using the Promise TX4 Sata300 at the reformat for my storage drives. My assumption either that the controller is allowing the drives to spin down and it has to spin them up before allowing me to access them (but I never had this problem when they were directly connected to the MOBO) or that the controller has some problem with access times (since I dont know much about sata controllers). It is a noticeable hang (4-5secs) and really picks at me. I have already tried reinstalling the controller drivers. System Specs: Windows Vista x64 Enterprise Edition Intel e6600 @ 2.4gHz (stock) 6gb Patriot Memory EVGA Nforce 680i A1 MOBO Promise SATA300 TX4 WDC Raptor 150gb (OS) WDC Raptor 36gb (working drive) WDC Caviar 250gb (on promise controller) WDC Caviar 500gb (on promise controller) WDC Caviar 500gb (on promise controller) WDC Green Power 1Tb (on promise controller) -- 2000b5 |
