Vista Media Centre Remote won't work!
I have upgraded from Win XP MCE to Vista Ultimate and now my Windows Media
Centre Remote will not work. I have examined Vista's Device Manager and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is an entry "eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)" entry. I have performed the following tests:- 1. Pressing my remote control causes the IR unit to flash indicating that the handset is transmitting and the IR unit is receiving. 2. Media Centre works with my keyboard and mouse. This indicates that Media Centre is OK. 3. Unplugged the IR unit and the entry in Device Manager disappears. 4. Plugged a mouse into the USB port used by the IR receiver and the mouse works. The USB port is therefore OK. 5. Plugged the IR unit into a different USB port. It shows in Device Manager, flashes when I press the remote control but won't control Media Centre. 6. Run windows update but nothing shows up. Can anyone please offer any help with this problem? __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 3934 (20090313) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com |
