sd card slot not working properly
Hi all to can help me. I had my pc down for a day or 2 so i could move it to another room. When i stick my memory card in, the pc does nothing. But before it would. It had no problem recongizing it. I have 3 different cards and tried all 3 of them. Ive gone into device manager and its not in there, but says the device is working properly.I used my usb sd reader and that works fine. I was able to open all 3 cards and do whatever. if anyone can help me figure out y this would all of a sudden do this to me after working perfectly fine before it would be of great help! -- LeahS |

How is "Memory card" device connected to your motherboard, via a data cable? Is there also some kind of power cable involved? You'll need to go inside the case and follow all involved cables from the device to the motherboard or power source and ensure that both ends are fully plugged in as the next step in isolating your problem. |

sd card slot not working properly
I have no idea how anything is hooked up inside. it's not even a month old yet and when dealing with moving pcs i am always very careful with them. Ive moved my old one numerous times but it doesnt have the memory card slots to worry about. ive been half tempted to contact hp. I was told not to tell them i moved it :zip: when i get the chance tonight i will take off the cover and see what i can find and let you know. I do know that when i stick the card in the little light does light up. so it is recognizing that there is something in the slot, just not going any farther than that. -- LeahS |

Can you mention the model number of the system which you have, so that we can hel you find the exact place the cable is located on the system. -- tanuj_chadha Tanuj History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce. - Karl Marx :geek: |

Most reputable retailers offer at least 30 days to do this. My previous response *assumed* the box was out of warranty. What you have is a "manufacturing defect" as the computer certainly should survive being moved around with due care. I'd go to HP tech support as option 2 if the store won't deal with it. Exercise your rights under the warranty (and be insistent if necessary). |

okay so i took the cover off and checked all wires. Everything is in tack. Nothing loose broke ect.I went back and looked and i had purchased it on feb 17th. I think i will just contact hp and ask them what to do about it. I thought maybe it was something i had done wrong but ive had a few people tell me to contact them, that there should be nothing wrong with it. This is just my luck tho. I slacked on getting a new pc and now that i have one i got problems with it. i will let ya know what hp tells me. -- LeahS |
