Default Mobo Front Panel Header Help

I am installing a new Gigabyte mobo (MA78GM-US2H) in an HP Media Center
Case. The pin layout between the case & mobo is nearly the same except
that the HD LED and the Power LED are reversed on the new mobo. The
power switch pins are correct. The case does not have reset capability.

Does it matter that the two LED pin connectors are reversed or should I
attempt to change the wires coming from the case?

I'm unfamiliar with HP Media Center cases, but I guess from what you say
that the front panel connector is a one piece block, rather than the set of
two or three pin connectors common in third-party cases.

If it was my system, I'd be tempted to rewire the connector so that the LEDs
would function normally with a new mainboard. (Are the polarities correct as
well?)

I hope that those are the only HP-proprietary features of the case. I have
unpleasant memories of Dell Dimension PCs from the 1990s: they had enough
proprietary features to make a motherboard swap more trouble than would be
worth it to most people.

Pretty sure that the front connector is the only proprietary feature. I
was given only the HP case, the old mobo and hard drive. The unit was
thouroughly cannalbalized. All the 3rd party components I had originally
bought for it worked.

I'll try rewiring the connector

Why? The bezel LED will just be reversed.
