Using Vista Premium Home ed'n, 32 bit.
Occasionally (all too frequently) the rectangular magnifier thingy
comes on, unbidden. I hate it and it drives me crazy to be unable to
eliminate it--I have to reboot. Control panel tells me how to start it
but not how to stop it or turn it off permanently. In fact I'm not even
sure WHY it starts--location of cursor? Can find nothing useful under
"help".
TIA for any help.
Gloria

Thanks so much, Shawn! Now, if I can find 5 minutes for the tutorial...
(income tax time in Canada--we have until the end of the month and it's
busy!)

You're welcome Gloria.

I feel for you. We just got through with the taxes here in the US on
the 15th.

Another possibility is that if you are using a wireless MS mouse Model 3000 and up
then one of the buttons on the side will turn on the magnifier which is a
rectangular box that magnifies.. This is set in the mouse properties as per action
which is assigned to the different buttons. To turn it Off you would need to hit the
same button on the MS wireless mouse. Go to control panel\mouse and see which key
is set for this action. Then change it to any other numerous actions that is
available .
