Option missing to allow remote connections
I am trying to allow external access to my computer so I can access it
remotely. Several sites list a procedure that says to right click "Computer" on the start menu, choose Properties, click Remote settings, click on the Remote tab and click on "Allow users to remotely connect to this computer". On my Windows Vista Home Premium system, I follow the above steps but the only option I see says "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer". Why is the "Allow users to remotely connect" option not listed? |

Why is the "Allow users to remotely connect" option not listed? It also says: "what happens when I allow remote assistance?" (in blue letters). Clicking on that will open Help and Support and there you will be given the instructions you are looking for. Harry. |

Clicking on Help and Support only provides further information about the "Remote Assistance" functionality. There is nothing in there on allowing users generically to remotely connect to the computer. |

There is nothing in there on allowing users generically to remotely connect to the computer. You will have to check the box to 'Allow Remote Assistance'. I am not familiar with the details of accomplishing the remote assistance itself. |
