Default CAN'T CONNECT TO LOCAL NETWORK

Ric,

I was having a problem with my CD/DVD ROM as well, it quit working! So I
posted another thread about it. Someone suggested this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/ and to try "Method 2". It involves
deleting registry files, which frankly scared the crap out of me. But I was
planning on taking it to a computer repair store this weekend anyway so I
figured what the hell I'll give it a shot. AND IT WORKED! LIKE EFFING MAGIC!
All my drives were restored, I could see my network, my previously
non-functional software was working again, it was amazing! In my mind I think
MS should write this function into the Vista installation process. I'm not
saying it will work for everything and everyone, but I had about 6 MAJOR
issues that it totally cleared up. So before you junk your system or spend a
dime on MS Tech Support, try this first, you might be surprised.

I have been having the same problem for over a week. And No-one here can
give me a clear answer on why.

Hey guys I'm hoping I'm just overlooking something dumb here but I need some
help. I just upgraded to Vista Home Premium last night. I use my laptop at
work ad I'm having some issues. I can't see my local network when I sign on.
We have a wireless modem that is separate from the network that I can see and
use to login to the internet. On XP I just went to "My Network Places"
clicked add new place, selected local area network and punched in the address
"\\Express\expressservices" it prompted me for a login and PW and I was all
set! Now when I go to "Network" all I see is my PC and there's no option to
add a new network place. Then I go to "Network and Sharing" and try to
connect to a network all it shows me is wireless modems and not the actual
network. Then I try to setup a new network and there's no option so see a
local area network, just modems, and what not. It seems all I can do find new
ways to connect to the internet, but no way to use the internet to connect to
my network. Please help.
