Default UNABLE TO SYNC WITH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

Got a new Gateway laptop w/Vista. itunes works fine, but everytime I try to
sync with windows media player it's as if the ipod isn't plugged in. So I
went through the apple site, tried all the tricks-nada. Went through the
help and troubleshooting for Windows-zilch. In Device manager, my ipod IS
there ( mass storage device ) but it keeps saying that it is "uninstalling"
and some code 21 stuff, and i sent the report, have all the updates, etc.
Any ideas? I CANNOT face another boring day at work without my tunes....by
the way, no problems with the usb or the ipod- definitely something Vista or
Media Player impact.

The iPod driver doesn't support Windows Media Player.

There's third third party alternatives such as Anapod and xPod, but without
those this would not work.
