Generic laser print drivers
The answer is "sort of."
Vista includes a generic PCL5 and PCL6 driver. In general, PCL6 is what to use because its a newer version that PCL5. HOwever, using these drivers is not intuitive. The only way I could get them to work was to go to the Add Printer dialog and then pick the top option which says it's only for a non-USB printer. Use this even if you do have a USB attached printer. Then proceed to add the printer as usual, selecting the USB6 driver. When asked which port to use pick one of the 2 USB ports listed (assuming of course your printer is USB attached.) This should get the printer to work. Good luck. Birk Binnard http://www.birkbinnard.com |
