What is Data Interface in Other Devices ?
Running Vista 32-bit Enterprise...
In the Device Manager, under Other Devices, I see a device called Data Interface. It's current state is: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" I don't know what this is or how to find a driver for it, but I suspect that it is causing problems with my Dell 946 AIO printer install. The print drivers install fine, and I can print with no problems. What I can't do is install the All-In-One Dell software that enables me to control the scanner functions. The install complains about the USB connection. I suspect that this mysterious Data Interface plays a role in my problem. Here are a few of the properties of the device: Location: 0000.001d.0007.002.002.000.000.000.000 Hardware Ids: USB\VID_413C&PID_8114&REV_0000&MI_01 USB\VID_413C&PID_8114&MI_01 Compatible Ids: USB\Class_ff&SubClass_ff&Prot_ff USB\Class_ff&SubClass_ff USB\Class_ff Config Flags 00000040 CONFIGFLAG_FAILEDINSTALL Physical Device Object name: \Device\00000074 Capabilities: 00000000 Bus type guid: {9d7debbc-c85d-11d1-9eb4-006008c3a19a} Legacy bus type: 0000000F Bus number: 00000000 Enumerator: USB Address: 00000002 Power data: Current power state: D3 Power capabilities: 0000007F PDCAP_D0_SUPPORTED PDCAP_D1_SUPPORTED PDCAP_D2_SUPPORTED PDCAP_D3_SUPPORTED PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D0_SUPPORTED PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D1_SUPPORTED PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D2_SUPPORTED Power state mappings: S0 - D0 S1 - D3 S2 - D3 S3 - D3 S4 - D3 S5 - D3 Install state: 00000002 Device Instance Path: USB\VID_413C&PID_8114&MI_01\7&22D676D1&0&0001 DevNode status: 01802400 DN_HAS_PROBLEM DN_DISABLEABLE DN_NT_ENUMERATOR DN_NT_DRIVER Problem code: 0000001C Parent: USB\VID_413C&PID_8114\6&28dac56e&0&2 Siblings: USB\VID_413C&PID_8114&MI_00\7&22d676d1&0&0000 Install error: There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
