Default File Icons in Widows Vista

- R2D2 -;485080 Wrote:
Hi all ...

Did not see a post on this on a quick scan of the newsgroup, but was
wondering if there is away to change the file icon in Windows Explorer
under
Vista. From what I have seen in some blogs and different sites, it
might
require a hack of the registry. I was wondering if there was a
'cleaner' way
of modifying a file icon to make it easier to distinguish between
different
files (of unknown types)

[for instance, if I create a new .txt file in Explorer, I get an icon
that
looks like a page. If I create a html file (same way, but renaming it
to
..html) it uses a similar icon and no way to change it ...

Any sharp and bright ideas ?

Thanx

Thanks so much

Hi R2D2,

This tutorial may help you. The key is to make shortcuts of the file
first. You might also look at the related links for additional
customizing ideas.

Hope this helps,
