Default Need driver for external hardrive

I already contacted my computer manufacturer w/c is dell on this issue, they
cant do anything about it and asked me to contact the manufacter of my
external hardrive (simpletech). Usually, external hard drive is a Plug and
Play system which works on my other computer, by the way (sony, and XP OS)
but not on my new one - Windows Vista. Even the manufacter of external hard
drive cant provide me the driver. He said that I can get it to Microsoft and
ask for the driver upgrade. Ive been passing from one person to another and
Im getting frustrated now. Is there anyone who can help me? Please? I need
the driver for my external hard drive. Thanks

What actually happens when you connect the drive? Do you see error
messages? If so, what do they say?

whenever I connect the hard drive, they asked for the driver. There is no

Try deleting your C:\windows\inf\INFCACHE.1 which may be corrupted.
Before you can delete it you must edit its file permissions to grant
Full Control to the Users group.
