No Audio Output Device is Installed
Hi! I've read many of the posts already discussing this problem and have not
been able to resolve mine yet! I have a new Gateway computer with speakers that came with it...Since loading Vista, I get no sound. Te computer recognizes thhe driver in the device manager and says it is working. But I get the No Audio Output device next to the little speaker in the bottom righth corner of my screen. I've tried updating the driver but I get a Code 10 error: device cannot start; could not load driver software... I've tried plugging the speakers in other plugs of the tower but have had no luck. I've updated my system many times. I've spent hours and hours and cannot figure it out. Someone Please Help! Thanks!!! |

Sushiasap,
If you have on-board sound chip, check in BIOS to make sure it's enabled. Also, what do you see in Control Panel Hardware and Sound Sound? We need to know answers to those items before we can determine if there's a problem. -- freddy "Sushiasap" wrote: Hi! There is no Hardware and Sound in Vista's Control Panel.

Sushiasap,
I should have asked one or two more question. What sound card do you have? For example, is it an AC-97 device? If you can, provide information on the type of sound device that you have. In Device Manager, under Sound, Video and Game controllers, what information is there (is there a name of a type of sound card)? -- freddy "Sushiasap" wrote: Hi! Bear,
I suppose it depends how you have your system configured. One likely can do it either way. Mine is set up the way I indicated. One must be flexible. -- freddy "Cal Bear '66" wrote: There is no Hardware and Sound in Vista's Control Panel. In Vista: Control Panel Sound "freddy" wrote in message ... No Audio Output Device is Installed
Hi Freddy,
Pardon my lack of proper computer vocabulary: I ended up "going back to a previous version." I think my problem came on when I loaded my logitech webcam after vistas. I removed it and reverted my computer to the date I installed Vistas. It seems to work fine now. But I can't use my webcam apparently. Oh well. Thanks for helping. -Sushiasap "freddy" wrote: Sushiasap, I should have asked one or two more question. What sound card do you have? For example, is it an AC-97 device? no audio output device is installed
Hi i bought my computer with windows vista already installed so when i took it home set it up i was prompted to make back up discs.
I looked at tons of sites looking for a way to solve this no audio output divice installed problem, but as i have no clue about computers & all this computer talk gave up. So all i done was click start, click all programs, click acer empowering technology, then click acer recovery management a blue window comes up & at the bottom i clicked retore. When clicking restore i had 4 options, i clicked recover system from CD/DVD then was prompted to put in the recovery discs i had made when i first set up my computer. When all was done i lost all my stuff (which wasn't much) as i dont know how to back up being thick as i am :-) so had to re-load my stuff which didnt bother me as i got my sound back which to me was more important. hope this helps |
