Default Mic Volume Level Auto-Adjusts

With this new style audio mixer, I've only had problems. Windows tried to
simplify the new box with stylish pictures and only made things harder to get
to. With that said......

I first am on a laptop; not that that should matter. I record all the time
so being on the go and being able to record tracks of people is a necessity.

Upon recording my mic levels were way too low. I then go into the microphone
levels tab and ajust the level from 30 to..... 50 and higher. Click Apply
OK and begin recording again. Everytime i click ok though it resets it back
to 30.

I have also unchecked different boxes in the mixer boards to see if they
have anything to do with the sound standard of 30; nothing. Unchecked giving
primary control to programs, etc.... turned off the voice filtering option
and most other things you would think of. I'm recording through my microhpone
jack.

Thank you in advance! I didn't see any threads really pertaining to this.
