man, I owe you big time. I had already given up and deinstalled, just when
this popped up and saved me from trashing this game title. Just fyg what the game's publisher wrote about this issue: -------------- Hello, Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I'm sorry to know that you are having issues with the game, I say this because this is one of our favorites here. Unfortunately the game surrenty does not support Windows Vista. We cannot guarantee the games performance and stability on this operating system. For your reference here is the list of system requirements of the game. Minimum System Requirements for “Need For Speed: Carbon”: OS: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (32Bit Edition only), Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 operating system CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (or equivalent) CPU running at 1.7GHz or higher Memory: 512MB RAM Video Card: 64MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti/ATI Radeon 8500 or higher) using a supported chipset (see below) Sound: DirectX compatible sound card Hard Drive: 5.3 GB of HD space DVD ROM: 8X or faster DVD Drive Supported Video Cards: Although Direct3D is supported, this support is only officially extended to certain 3D accelerator devices. Ya know, that is odd, because NFSMW works like a beauty on my Vista box.
Damn! I guess I am just going to have to wait for the next release of NFS Carbon! "km" wrote: man, I owe you big time. NFS Carbon on RC2 B5744
How funny I was trying the same thing by going one by one on Compatibility modes and it worked for me as well. It also works on Windows 95 "ComptMode" / I don't know if its my computer but it certainly runs a little smoother when under Windows 95, instead of Windows 98 / ME ComptMode. Also disabling Desktop Composition might help it a little more. If you wish to obtain better FPS and you already tried all that above, then try to turn off the "Motion Blur" effect under your Video / Advanced configurations; Try not to go under Antisotropic 4X cause the game just looks bad. It is no use playing NFS:Carbon without max quality. For the PC refs, here is my system: 64 3200+ 2GB DDR 7900 GT 256MB Hope it helps a little more. And if you find more ways to make it work better please share and submit feedback to EA "ViPeRaY" wrote: your welcome. have fun. "Replay" wrote in message ...
