Windows update overwrites working nvidia sata driver with broken one
Windows update overwrites the existing working NVIDIA SATA driver with a
broken one. Causes the system to lock up completely after loading the desktop, immediately after logging in. Have turned automatic updates off to prevent it from happening. Is there any way to block just this update in future? NVIDIA Corporation driver update for NVIDIA nForce 590/570/550 Serial ATA Controller Download size: 33 KB You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect. I have exactly the same problem with Vista Home for a Nvidia SATA 680i controller in my Asus P5N32-E motherboard. I'm very happy to find somebody who has this problem too because I'm unable to find any suggestion on microsoft, asus or Nvida sites. You can see my post on the asus forum: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...80121012602859 Besides, I have other problem with my hard drive, and I think it is related to the SATA driver. I'm going to make another full install on a IDE drive.

Yes. In the Windows Update window you can choose to hide and unhide
