Bluetooth mouse/keyboard have to be re-activated after every Re-bo
One of the many USB related problems I've encountered since upgrading to
Vista (Home premium) is having to re-activate my Bluetooth mouse & keyboard about every other time that I start my PC. As it is not every time, I have a suspicion that it somehow relates to whether Vista finds the Bluetooth dongle to be on the same USB port as the last time or whether it thinks its a different port - and therefore a new device. I never physically change its USB port (apart from once to try to see if it solved this problem - but it didn't appear to matter which port it was on) - but I know I have a similar problem with my all-in-one printer/scanner which appears on the system as 2 separate devices, only one of which works - though which one changes randomly. Other USB devices appear to have similar problems. As far as I know the various related drivers all all up-to-date - but I may be wrong. When first upgrading to Vista I had to download and install the latest Logitech Setpoint (3.30) drivers to get the keyboard to work properly (on all the multi-media controls) - but maybe I missed out on a driver for the 'dongle/controller' or whatever it is called. I have just come across a KB article (934633) confirming the problem with connecting a "USB multifunction printer device" and maybe this is the same problem. Any useful suggestions for solutions would be most welcome, I don't want to just plug in an old PS2 keyboard & mouse - even though that solution would be the least hassle. Not that I think it is really relavent but my system is a Dell E520 2 x 2.13 Ghz with 2Gb ram with a Dell Bluetooth keyboard & mouse. |

Bluetooth mouse/keyboard have to be re-activated after every Re-bo
I'm having the same problem with my Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse.
About Twice a Week, I have to get Vista to re-recognize it. Like you, I never change the USP location and never un-plug it. Vista just acts like I just plugged it in and I have to re-install them about 2-3 Times a Week. I figur this problem will be taken care of in One of the up comming Vista updates. I'm running Vista Ultimate X64 so I'll have to wait a little longer than the 32bit O/S operators, LOL! Bluetooth mouse/keyboard have to be re-activated after every Re-bo
Here is the link for getting a hotfix (NOTE: You may have to try the URL several
times to get to the actual request form page): https://support.microsoft.com/contac...1410&WS=hotfix Also, from what I have recently read, this hotfix is supposed to be included in next Tuesday's Windows Updates. -- I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS! Bluetooth mouse/keyboard have to be re-activated after every R
Thank you and JW - I had seen the cumulative USB Hot-fix somewhere on these
forums, but I picked out just 934633 as it was the one that matched my all-in-one/printer problems. I've applied it but can't say yet for certain whether it has cured my printer showing twice - it does only show once now, but I'll need to see if that remains the case after a few re-boots. If there are going to be USB fixes in the Windows Updates soon then I will wait for them. My problems aren't desperate, I can still get everything to work its just annoying.
