Hello, all,

In Vista, CPU is always at 100% Mhz.

In Windows XP, my CPU usually runs at 50% Mhz.

To enable that, I had to install the CPU driver from AMD, which will not
install to Vista ( "This version of the AMD CPU Driver only supports Windows
XP. Installation will now exit." )

Anybody know how to make this work?

-- Asus K8V SE Deluxe motherboard
-- Athlon 64 3200+
-- Vist beta 2 64-bit

Well, while my Athlon 1gz used to run at 38-42, the lower the temp the less
stress on the device, if it can run at 32c thats how I want it.

The issue here is that Microsoft does not trust third party drivers, you
will notice that nearly all your devices are running on Microsoft drivers
now. That said my Dvico Fusion TV card does have its own drivers written for
vista which work, so the best shot is to take it up with technical support at
your motherboard company.

This is the reply I got from Asus support:

Dear Friend :

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is ZYC, and I would be assisting you today.

Sir, the Vista itself have built in AMD K8 CPU driver,
you don't need install it manually.
In fact there is no AMD K8 CPU driver for Vista can be downloaded at all.
I have tested with a socket 939 cpu,
when power management was set to the 1st option or 2nd option,
cpu will work at CNQ mode.
But on the 3rd option ( high performance), CPU will work at full speed.
