asus A7N8X
I have an asus A7N8X mobo, ethernet will not work with vista rc1. Ethernet
controller shows up in device manager with no drivers. Tried asus drivers, nvidia mobo drivers (old and new versions of each) Still no ethernet. I installed an old pci ethernet card and installed drivers, still nothing! It works fine with mepis linux, so its not a hardware problem. I then installed on another computer with a MSI K7N2G mobo, ethernet worked fine, had to manually install creative sound drivers. Its funny that mepis linux is easier to install than vista! Any ideas on getting ethernet to work on asus mobo? |

Do you have the version 2 M/B (A7N8X Deluxe 2.0)?
If so, plug the cat5 cable into the lower ethernet port. This is the built-in port for the Nvidia lan adapter. RC1 and 5728 both work fine with this port. The lan adapter will be automatically configured during install. If you are plugged into the upper lan port, you are connected to a built-in 3com lan adapter. These drivers are not part of the install package. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! Nowhere does the information say that these drivers are for nForce 2
motherboards. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! asus A7N8X
I just pointed the device at the v5.4 drivers for XP from Asus's site
& they installed, not tried the 3COM port to see if it works through, but vista didn't complain! Just want drivers for the sound chip, so that the rear speakers will work. (a7n8x dlx) Steve.
