Default ATI Radeon x1600 Pro PCI-e on X64 5384

I have had a whole world of problems with my AGP Radeon x1600 pro 512mb on 32
bit vista 5728, all using ATI's own vista RC1 driver. I have had corrupted
graphics galore and managed to sort it by using the bundled WDM driver made
by microsoft it seems to work ok with glass aero effects but games run like
poo compared to XP and 3dmark01 looses a whole 3000 3dmarks on vista compared
to XP

Let me try again as the last attempt at a post went in flames! I have a
Radeon X1600 Pro PCI=e 512MB and have not been able to run Normal mode
without first uninstalling the 2 instances of the graphics card in safe mode
and booting again to let PNP install the card. I have tried all the
suggestions given here up to 7/1/06 except for installing the latest XP
Catalyst as that is not a WDDM driver. I have installed the beta Catalyst and
on reboot I get the BSOD about timeouts related to the video. I would really
like to explore the X64 Vista but so far no dice. Any help or solutions?
Thanks,
JonK
