I set up the WAP with an Ethernet cable to set the device. After all
settings were done I disconnected the Ethernet cable. As soon as the
Ethernet cable is unplugged I cannot access the WAP's homepage.

In general with wireless access points or wireless routers, you should
only log into them to make alterations with physical connections, not via
wireless. Yours may block access from wireless sources and only
authenticate hard-wired ones.

That's the way it is supposed to be. Would you want anyone with a wireless
connection and the ability to crack your password ( a five minute job for
some software) able to alter your router? The router can only be accessed
from "inside" meaning a wire connected computer. Anything outside, the
Internet, or any wireless connection cannot access it.

Once it is set up and working, there would be no reason to access it in any
event.
