Reformatting after install
I am also having a problem going back to XP. The drive won't format in the
text-mode portion of Windows XP setup/install. The error message is: "Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged. Make sure the drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCSI disk, make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated. Consult your computer manual or SCSI adapter documentation for more information. You must select a different partition for Windows. To continue, press ENTER." The drive is not "damaged." The drive is fine. This is just another in a long list of incomprehensibly stupid things Vista does. The more I use Vista, the more I hate it. This O.S. is retarded. "Jo" wrote: I'm not sure by your response whether you had trouble formatting or not. What kind of error message did you get when you tried to format? It sounds as if you were finally able to format. Why wouldn't the xp disk format the drive? Thanks again. "Aaron" wrote: when i had to remove vista x32 i have to wipe the partition completely to get it off my system, when i tried to format all i got was a silly error, but if u need to get rid it the easiest way i have found so far. further point my xp disk would not remove the partition so had to use the vista disk so make sure u install vista from a dvd and not windows otherwise u may be hard pushed to get rid. aaron "Jo" wrote in message ... Will I have any problems reformatting a new hard drive after installing Vista Beta 2 on the drive? I have a new hard drive that I plan to use to try out Vista before I install my previous operating system on the drive through an imaging program. Can I either reformat or install the image over the install of vista (through use of a boot disk with my imaging program?) Thank you! |
