I am also having a problem going back to XP. The drive won't format in the
text-mode portion of Windows XP setup/install.

The error message is:
"Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged. Make
sure the drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If
the disk is a SCSI disk, make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated.
Consult your computer manual or SCSI adapter documentation for more
information.

You must select a different partition for Windows.
To continue, press ENTER."

The drive is not "damaged." The drive is fine. This is just another in a
long list of incomprehensibly stupid things Vista does.

The more I use Vista, the more I hate it. This O.S. is retarded.

when i had to remove vista x32 i have to wipe the partition completely to
get it off my system, when i tried to format all i got was a silly error,
but if u need to get rid it the easiest way i have found so far. further
point my xp disk would not remove the partition so had to use the vista disk
so make sure u install vista from a dvd and not windows otherwise u may be
hard pushed to get rid.
