Default disconnects on USB2 storage devices

when I connect either an external hd or a cruizer mini via usb 2 ports they
are recognized OK. I have no problems copying files off the device to the
local hd. However, as soon as I copy files from the local hd to the usb
device I get disconnects every couple seconds (I assume every file it writes
to the device). It often locks up in the copying process and I have to force
quit the process.

I have not see this anywhere here. has this been observed before or is this
just my system?

I am running Vista RC2. This is a fresh install of RC2. this also happened
to me in RC1. My devices work perfectly fine under XP Pro on the same
machine.

thanks in advance for any help

well, found the problem myself. I had Acronis True Image Home v9 installed.
The files and folders backup worked nicely and it didn't show any problems.
When I uninstalled that and removed its services my USB devices started
working normal again. Apparently True Image was trying to track file changes
or sth like that which interfered with Vista.
