How I got my ethernet to work from a clean install 2 days later
First off I have no formal training on how to work on or get computers to work.
This was trail and error, lots of error's. I have a Actiontec wireless router etc Since I could not get the cable part to work.I hooked up the Westel wireless usb I got from Verizon.Thing was it would not detect my router.I do know enough on how to set up a wireless connection. But in the connection wizzard I noticed 2 other wireless connections without security settings.so I used ther connections long enough to get the Vista updates and there it was my ethernet driver was downloading and installing automatic.I disconnected from wireless rebooted and now i have internet without the wireless. Now im happy. Allso forget trying to get drivers for 3 com and cnet pro as I wasted lots of time trying to make them work I even tried other brand drivers.Hope this helps |
