Default Windows Security Center doesn't recognize CA Anti Virus

Running Vista Home Premium
CA Anti Virus 8.4.0.24

The security center warns me that I have no anti virus when clearly I do
(see above)
The security center will NOT turn on Windows Defender even after I have told
it to and it scaned for updates.

WHY?

Do you have CA Anti-Virus or CA Anti-Virus Plus?

I know this may seem like a dumb question, but do you have all the
latest updates (both program and definitions?) It's been my
experience in the past that either can cause Vista to think it's
unprotected. CA should register with Vista just fine--as it's listed
on Vista's official security page.

Def's are up todate. i will try re-regestering again. I read that CA is one
of the few anti viruses that works with vista and is recommended by vista.

ISSUE: Vista not recognising antivirus program and defender won't turn
on

SYMPTOMS Customer has installed Mcafee antivirus and also turned
on Windows defender but when he opens up windows Vista Security center
then security center is not detecting anitvirus and even windows
defender it says it is off

Soultion
Step 1 Goto safe mode (may be with networking) Click on Perl and in
start search box type in services.msc and then in menu right click on
services and click on "run as administrator"
Step 2. Double click on "Windows Management Instrumentation" and click
on STOP button and stop this service
Step 3 Goto c:\windows\system32\wbem\repository and rename the
repository folder
Step 4. Then goto "Windows Management Instrumentation" and click on
START button and start this service
Step 5 Restart the computer and issue will be resolved
