Default my dvd drive is missing

its missing from:
1. My Computer
2. Device Manager

it seems as if my dvd drive was never even made. there are no drivers for
it. not even reference to is as ever being thought of by pioneer. it is a
pioneer DVR-K16RS. i have searched everywhere for a fix to this problem and
i'm at the point of pulling out my hair. theres no such thing as an upper or
lower filters in vista so please don't suggest that. any other help would be
appreciated though.

Default my dvd drive is missing

Hi,

It's upperfilters and lowerfilters (no space) and they do exist in Vista
under this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Is the drive seen in the system BIOS?

If the advice at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us doesn't solve
your problem then you could try reinstalling or updating your IDE drivers.
Uninstall original drivers, restart PC. Either let Windows find the correct
drivers or get them from your PC or DVD Drive manufacturers website.

Good luck

Rob

Hi,

So you see it being enumerated during the POST? Was this drive working
previously?

Hi,

Apologies, but If you can't get into the BIOS how do you
know the DVD is recognized? Are you seeing it during POST? Anyhow if you
need to gain access to your BIOS setup and you don't know the password then
look here for advice:
