Default Mouse cursor jumps or warps several inches every few seconds

No clue what is causing this. The mouse cursor will randomly jump or warp to
a different spot on the screen. Usually about 3 to 7 inches and this happens
every 10 or so seconds if i am really using the cursor a lot to like look at
picture thumbnails or something like that. It happens less, the less i use
the mouse.

I tried using different mice. I tried laser and cleaned roller mice. This
is a new desktop PC with vista ultimate 32. I am using older mice but they
work fine on my other PC and no other problems except this so far.

I tried uninstalling the mice, then letting vista reinstall them. I updated
the vid card and motherboard drivers. None of that worked. So, i am
desperate for help

It does this both in general windows vista and also when i play a game.
Doesnt matter, still does it.

you can check the problem if it persists in the safe mode.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I bought a new mouse that said it was compatible with Vista on the box. It
works fine with no jumping. Anoying that my mice which work perfectly fine
in xp wont work in vista but ohwell. I'm just glad its resolved.
