Default Why Won't My Computor Download Microsoft Critical Updates (85)

I'm sorry if I am in the wrong area for this to but, I am having the same
problem as well. My question is, why do you have to run these to applications
in safe mode as apose to the normal way? I am going to try this method and
see if I can get my updates to install on my system.

Hi Dasha,

You're actually on the wrong forum for XP, but I'll make a few comments anyway

Please confirm your system clock and Time Zone also the Date set properly,
Having it set incorrectly can cause this type of behavior.

Test this WGA diagnose test, connection to MS, that scripts working and a
new Validation tool

Download CCleaner and Dial-ª-fix

Ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com ;
Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during instªll.

Do the scans with all the check marks ºn.

Run the above remover in safe mode then Ccleaner on all 3
settings(windows, apps & issues) and clear anything found reboot and see if it
still exists.

NOTE - The first time you run CCleaner's Issues scanner you'll have to keep
running it back-to-back until it finds nothing. One scenario is a registry
key may only be a reference pointing to a completely different location in
the registry and when it's removed then that reference link is also noticed
as being invalid on a subsequent scan. It's generally a good idea to keep
running the Issues scan until nothing is listed.

There is also a third-party fix which has had good results for a number of
folks he
Dial-ª--Fix
http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix ;

Run this program with all the functions activated in safe mode. --it may
look as if the scan has frozen. DAF is actually doing lots of shoveling and
shuffling, so don't interrupt it.

Please read the page and Scroll down about 2/3 of the way to Download
Dial-ª-fix

Exit Safe Mode (Reboot)

Try the updates n0w

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut

Engel, I hope you read this, but thanks for this post as it has saved me
from going insane. I have followed your recommendations and it has worked
like a dream. I will also be making contributions to the two providers you
mentioned. Thanks once again. Regards Chris
