Default Update - Microsoft Responds to the Evolution of Community

Hi,

Has nothing to do with cost reduction. Microsoft stopped including support
for nntp in their server product a few generations back. They are closing
their nntp server farm as the server products it relies on are becoming
outdated.

Translation:
Microsoft, like many other ISPs, decided to drop newsgroup support. This
translates into usenet newsgroups or forum support left. Strangely, MS
recently also eliminated groups for MSN subscribers. What does this mean?
How about COST REDUCTION! Guess someone at Microsoft is getting greedy
again! The success of win7 must not have been enough.

This message is to inform you that Microsoft will soon begin
discontinuing
newsgroups and transitioning users to Microsoft forums.

Why?
